The Fondation nationale Alfred Kastler de l'Académie des Sciences has two primary goals. First, the Foundation strives to help foreign scientists have productive and pleasant stays in France by guiding them through the process of planning their trips; helping them with the initial difficulties of their stay, such as the red tape in obtaining visas and other documents, as well as with the practical problems of everyday live in a foreign country. Also, the Foundation endeavours to maintain contact with these scientists following their return home. The Kastler Foundation most often works with post-doctoral scientists and more senior visitors, but in certain cases it will be able to help doctoral candidates. The Kastler Foundation works with scientists of all nationalities and from the full range of scientific disciplines, from experimental to social sciences.
